Police are investigating a suspected hate crime after a home in the Brighton Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side was vandalized with racist graffiti on Monday morning. Officers responded to the property around 9 a.m. after the owner, who is of Asian descent, discovered the damage during a renovation project.

According to a police report, the vandals spray-painted the words “F--- China” in black paint on a wall inside the house. Additional damage to the interior was also reported, though details on the extent of the other vandalism were not provided.

Authorities are treating the incident as a hate crime and are currently conducting an investigation. No arrests have been made at this time. Police have not released further details regarding potential suspects or leads.
