Rafe Spall has been cast as Arthur Weasley in the upcoming second series of the Harry Potter television adaptation, which is being produced for HBO. Spall will take on the role previously portrayed by Mark Williams in the original Harry Potter film franchise. This new series continues the retelling of the iconic story, with filming for the second installment currently underway.

Spall’s involvement marks a notable connection to the Harry Potter universe, as his father, Timothy Spall, played Peter Pettigrew, a key character in the film series. The show’s producers announced additional casting choices recently, including Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle and Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey.

The first series of the adaptation has completed production and is scheduled for release on HBO Max on Christmas Day. The second series, featuring Spall and the newly announced cast members, is expected to debut late next year.

Other recently confirmed cast members include Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill portraying Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby, and Billy Barratt in the role of Tom Riddle.
