The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) Team A secured the championship title at the Royal Armed Forces (RAF) beach volleyball tournament, held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. The final, conducted on April 10, saw RAFO A defeat the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) Team A with a straight 2-0 victory.
The five-day championship was organized by the Directorate General of Military Sports at the Royal Armed Forces Headquarters and took place under the patronage of Brigadier Staff Engineer Ali bin Sulaiman al Dhuhli, Head of Military Social Services. Brigadier Staff Navy Khalid bin Ali al Maqbali, Director General of Military Sports, was present for the final match, alongside players and numerous spectators.
The tournament featured robust participation from seven military and security organizations, including the Ministry of Defence, Royal Army of Oman, Royal Air Force of Oman, Royal Navy of Oman, Royal Guard of Oman, Royal Court Affairs, and the Military and Security Medical City. A total of 20 teams competed, with 14 men’s teams and six women’s teams involved.
In the men’s division, RAFO A’s strong performance secured the championship, with RAO A finishing as runners-up. The third-place playoff saw RAO B overcome Royal Court Affairs B to claim third position. Meanwhile, in the women’s category, the Ministry of Defence team won the title after defeating Royal Court Affairs in the final match. The Royal Navy of Oman took third place in the women's event.
Throughout the tournament, teams demonstrated a high level of skill and competitiveness in both the group and knockout rounds. Organizers emphasized the championship’s role in identifying and nurturing talented players within the military, as well as preparing national teams for forthcoming international events, notably the Military World Cup beach volleyball competition scheduled to take place in Muscat later this year.
Officials also highlighted the broader benefits of the championship in fostering teamwork, discipline, and unity across various branches of the Royal Armed Forces, reflecting the growing importance of sports within the military community.
