Rangers have postponed the return of their squad for pre-season training following the appointment of new manager Derek McInnes. Players were initially instructed by former manager Danny Rohl to report to the club’s Auchenhowie training base on Monday, but the club has now delayed this until Thursday, when the squad will meet McInnes for the first time.

McInnes, 54, is currently in the United States on holiday. He was seen among supporters of the Scotland national team in Boston during their World Cup opener against Haiti last week and is expected to attend Scotland’s match against Morocco.

While abroad, McInnes has been engaged in detailed discussions with Rangers’ American chairman Andrew Cavenagh, focusing on the club’s direction and transfer plans. The former Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, and Hearts manager is anticipated to return to Glasgow within the next three days. Upon his return, he will begin assessing the existing first-team squad inherited from Rohl and prioritizing summer signings to strengthen the team.

Meanwhile, Danny Rohl has commenced his tenure as head coach at Red Bull Salzburg, already having started work in Austria. The transition marks a new chapter for both Rangers and Rohl as the club prepares for the upcoming season under McInnes’s leadership.
