Rangers secured a dramatic 6-3 victory over Falkirk in a high-scoring encounter that saw the Ibrox side overturn an early two-goal deficit. The match, played on Saturday, showcased a crucial comeback that brought Rangers within a point of Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts.
Falkirk surged to a promising 2-0 lead within the first 30 minutes, putting Rangers under significant pressure. However, Rangers managed to reduce the deficit before halftime, shifting the momentum heading into the second half. The visitors then dominated the remainder of the match, netting five unanswered goals.
Strikers Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski were instrumental in the comeback, each scoring two goals to help secure the win. Rangers’ manager Danny Rohl lauded his team's resilience and ability to adapt after a challenging start. “The start was very difficult – not what we wanted but we adapted and the reaction was crucial to show our quality,” Rohl said. He also highlighted the team’s offensive form, noting they had scored 14 goals in their last three games and emphasizing the attacking style they aim to maintain.
Despite Falkirk’s effort to pull one back via a Calvin Miller penalty, the visitors’ lead proved insurmountable. Falkirk manager John McGlynn acknowledged the team’s strong start but expressed frustration with the defensive lapses in the second half. “We started so well to go two up but we gave Rangers a lifeline and they took it,” McGlynn said. He added that Falkirk was “too soft in challenges” during the second half and conceded that the goals allowed were avoidable.
Elsewhere in the Premiership, the league’s top three teams all recorded wins on the same weekend for only the second time this season. Third-placed Celtic edged past St Mirren 1-0, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring the decisive goal. Celtic remain three points behind Hearts, who came from behind to defeat Motherwell 3-1. Derek McInnes’ Hearts continue to lead the standings as the title race intensifies.
