Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan became the first bowler to reach 200 wickets in men’s T20 International cricket during the second T20I against Zimbabwe at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday. Rashid achieved this milestone after dismissing Zimbabwe’s wicketkeeper-batsman Tadiwanashe Marumani for two runs as Zimbabwe pursued a challenging target of 222.

The dismissal marked a significant milestone in Rashid’s career and in the history of men’s T20Is, solidifying his status as one of the format’s most effective bowlers. Rashid has been a pivotal figure in Afghanistan’s T20 setup, consistently delivering impactful performances.

In the same match, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai played a crucial role in the hosts’ innings, scoring a commanding century to help the team recover from an early batting collapse. Omarzai’s 116 runs, supported by Ijaz Ahmad’s 52, propelled Afghanistan to a total of 221 for 7.

Zimbabwe’s response was led by Wesley Madhevere’s unbeaten 106, but despite his efforts and a fightback from the middle order, Zimbabwe finished at 202 for 5. Afghanistan’s bowling attack, including Abdollah’s 2 for 34, ultimately restricted Zimbabwe to 19 runs short of the target.

The victory further established Afghanistan’s standing in T20 cricket, both through individual achievements such as Rashid’s record and the collective team performance in a high-scoring encounter.
