Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will sit out his second consecutive game Sunday due to an ankle injury, head coach Jesse Minter confirmed Friday. Jackson, who sustained the injury while taking a sack late in the first half of the Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, will not play when the Ravens face the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland.
Tyler Huntley is expected to start in Jackson’s place. Huntley led the Ravens to a 30-23 overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons last weekend, demonstrating his ability to guide the team under pressure. Reflecting on his preparation, Huntley emphasized the importance of thorough practice and mental readiness. “The preparation and work that we do during the week helps just getting ready for the game so you can feel at ease while you are going through the scenarios,” he said.
Jackson missed four games last season with injury, during which Baltimore posted a 2-2 record. The team will be relying on Huntley to help maintain competitive form while the star quarterback recovers. In addition to Jackson, the Ravens ruled out center Cam Jurgens (concussion), tight end Matthew Hibner (hand injury), and defensive tackle Broderick Washington (ankle) for Sunday’s matchup.
The Ravens will look to improve on their current record as they contend with injuries that have impacted key positions on both offense and defense heading into their game against the Browns.
