Real Madrid has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig for the transfer of 19-year-old winger Yan Diomande in a deal reported to be worth up to £120 million, setting a new club record. The two clubs have been in negotiations for several weeks, culminating in Leipzig allowing Diomande to travel to Madrid for a medical examination.

Diomande, currently participating in Leipzig’s pre-season training camp in Austria, flew out on Monday to finalize terms. He is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Spanish club at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The initial fee for the transfer is approximately £107 million, with an additional £13 million in potential add-ons contingent on specified performance criteria. As part of the agreement, Diomande’s former club, Leganes, is entitled to a percentage of the transfer fee.

This transfer surpasses the previous record set by Real Madrid when they acquired Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for £115 million three years prior. Real Madrid’s pursuit of Diomande outlasted interest from other leading clubs including Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, both of which withdrew from negotiations over Leipzig’s asking price and the player’s salary expectations.

The addition of Diomande marks Real Madrid’s sixth major signing during the current summer transfer window, signaling the club’s intent to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
