Reality television personality Megan McKenna has disclosed that she was the victim of a violent home invasion by a group armed with machetes. The incident occurred at her residence in London, where McKenna was alone, accompanied only by her pet dog.
According to McKenna, she was awoken by the sound of intruders forcibly entering her home. Despite locking her bedroom door, the assailants used a baseball bat to break through a false wall connected to her dressing room, enabling them access. She described confronting one of the masked attackers while naked, during which he forcibly removed a ring from her finger. McKenna recounted being visibly shaken and injured, with a cut to her foot and significant blood present at the scene.
At the time, her husband, professional footballer Oliver Burke, was away in Germany preparing for the 2023 season with Werder Bremen. McKenna contacted the police during the attack and was advised not to engage with the intruders. However, she chose to confront them and has since detailed the traumatic experience in a recent podcast interview.
Following the incident, the perpetrators were apprehended and faced trial. McKenna reported that they were released approximately a year later and remain at large. Due to concerns for her safety, she has since relocated to Germany with her husband and their 22-month-old son, Landon. McKenna cited the fear she experienced during the break-in as a key factor in her decision to leave the UK.
The episode underscores ongoing concerns related to violent crime and home invasions in urban areas. Authorities continue to investigate and monitor similar incidents to ensure community safety.
