The Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows performed a flypast over the start and finish line of the Great North Run, which takes place between Newcastle and South Shields. The aerobatic team flew in close formation, trailing their signature red smoke as part of their summer display schedule.

A spokesperson for the Red Arrows described the Great North Run as a special event for the team and extended congratulations to the 63,000 runners and everyone involved in the 45th anniversary of the race. The team is based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire and is comprised of 11 pilots supported by over 100 highly trained personnel responsible for operations and logistics.

The Great North Run, one of the largest half-marathons in the world, annually attracts tens of thousands of participants, charity fundraisers, and spectators. The Red Arrows’ involvement adds a ceremonial highlight to the event, underscoring its longstanding significance in the UK’s sporting calendar.
