An AI-driven travel corridor at Dubai International Airport has received the Dubai-it Award for Projects in the Field of Government, recognising significant advancements in passenger clearance efficiency. The Red-Carpet Travel Corridor, developed by the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, employs artificial intelligence and biometric recognition to verify travelers’ identities and complete border control procedures without requiring physical travel documents.

The system is capable of processing up to 10 passengers simultaneously, a marked increase from traditional immigration lanes that accommodate only one person at a time. According to officials, the corridor clears passengers in under five seconds, achieving what is described as the world’s fastest travel clearance process. Passenger satisfaction with the system reportedly exceeds 99 percent.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, praised the project for its innovation and efficiency gains. He highlighted how the initiative has increased clearance capacity tenfold, streamlining airport procedures and enhancing the traveler experience.

The development aligns with the broader Dubai-it philosophy, which seeks to surpass global standards through rapid execution and the application of cutting-edge technology. Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that the aim is to make life easier for residents and visitors by delivering exceptional experiences that provide tangible economic value and strengthen Dubai’s position as a global hub.

This project is part of the Dubai-it initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative promotes a results-oriented culture prioritising speed, execution, and measurable outcomes. The annual Dubai-it Awards recognise entities that best embody this approach, and the Red-Carpet Travel Corridor was selected in the government projects category for its contributions to faster passenger processing, increased capacity, and enhanced satisfaction.
