Isidor, who recently extended his contract with the club until 2030, was brought on in the second half and capitalized on a chance created by fellow substitute Habib Diarra to fire the winner in the 75th minute. Le Bris praised Isidor’s qualities and work ethic, stating he has a promising future but must continue to work hard.

Sunderland, who finished seventh last season and qualified for European competition for the first time in over five decades, have already added defenders Thomas Meunier and Dayann Methalie, as well as midfielder Jules Ahoka during this transfer window. Le Bris acknowledged the challenge of managing squad rotation, noting that while players understandably desire starting roles, they recognize the competition and opportunities available throughout a demanding season. "You see they are frustrated when they are on the bench but they know they will have opportunities," he said.

Asked about potential signings before the transfer window closes, Le Bris said the priority is maintaining a squad aligned with Sunderland’s ethos. "We’ll see. The most important is what we saw in the core of the group, which was very good. The players are all in, you can’t play at that level if you are not all in and so well-connected with the project of the club. If you can add one or two signings, we will do it."

For Fulham, the defeat marked their second consecutive loss in the Premier League under new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. Following their opening day defeat to Chelsea, Fulham’s form has raised concerns as the club seeks improvement. Arbeloa acknowledged his team was below par against Sunderland and stressed the need for greater demands on themselves.
