The Ministry of Education in Oman, through the Higher Education Admission Centre (HEAC), has opened registration for admission to higher education institutions for the 2026-2027 academic year. The registration period will remain open until June 4 and is accessible via an updated digital platform designed to streamline the application process for students.
Eligible applicants include those holding the General Education Diploma (GED) or its equivalent for the 2025-2026 academic year. The new online system represents part of a broader digital transformation initiative aimed at enhancing convenience, efficiency, and user experience for prospective students.
Ahmed bin Mohammed al Azri, Director-General of HEAC, highlighted significant improvements incorporated into the revamped admission system. He noted that the platform now features a modernized interface and complies with the latest technology standards to better serve student needs. One key enhancement is an improved login process, where users can create an account by entering basic information such as their civil ID number, email address, phone number, and candidate number. Upon registration, candidates receive their login credentials instantly.
The updated homepage functions as a central dashboard, providing students with quick access to personal information, academic grades, and available academic programmes. The system also includes intelligent tools to assist applicants in selecting preferred programmes. It enables searches by institution or major and automatically matches programmes to student qualifications while offering suggestions based on individual academic profiles.
Additionally, applicants benefit from flexible options to arrange programme preferences. These include drag-and-drop functionality, side-arrow navigation, and manual entry of choices, allowing students to customize their applications more easily.
Overall, the Ministry’s initiative reflects a commitment to leveraging technology to make higher education admission more accessible and user-friendly for Oman’s student population.
