Renault has introduced an updated version of its Renault 5 electric model, enhancing both its range and design just two years after the initial launch. The revised vehicle features aerodynamic improvements, including redesigned wing mirrors, and new personalization options such as a fresh red paint color and a star-patterned roof.

The company has refined the battery electronics to extend the driving range. The 40kWh version now offers an estimated range of up to 196 miles, an increase of three miles over the previous model. Similarly, the 52kWh Comfort Range variant has seen its range improved to 267 miles, up from 255 miles.

Looking ahead, Renault plans to update the smaller 40kWh model’s powertrain by integrating the unit used in the latest Twingo. This will involve equipping the Renault 5 with a 36.5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, noted for its higher energy density. However, this change will result in a reduction of about six miles in driving range. The company also highlighted that the new battery will support charging speeds of up to 80kW.

The updated Renault 5 will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show in October.
