Israeli military forces conducted a raid in the southern Syrian province of Quneitra on Friday, entering the village of Al-Asha where they searched several properties before withdrawing, Syrian state media reported. More than 15 Israeli military vehicles were reported to have participated in the incursion, with troops inspecting a house and a feed storage facility during the operation.
The raid is the latest in a series of military actions by Israel in the area, which lies near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Earlier in the week, Israeli forces also entered the nearby village of Saida Al-Golan, where they established a temporary checkpoint at the village entrance before eventually withdrawing.
These actions follow several recent Israeli operations in southern Syria. Last month, Israeli troops entered the village of Al-Asbah in Quneitra, conducting home searches before pulling back. Damascus has accused Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, which created a United Nations-monitored buffer zone along the ceasefire line following the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.
Syrian authorities have consistently condemned these incursions as breaches of Syria’s sovereignty and international law, citing ongoing raids, arrests, land-clearing activities, and shelling. Syria has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all occupied Syrian territory, urging international intervention to enforce the disengagement terms.
Regional actors including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey have publicly condemned the recent Israeli military operations in Quneitra and the neighboring province of Daraa, describing the actions as violations of international norms.
Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria during the 1967 Middle East war and subsequently annexed the territory, a move that remains unrecognized by most of the international community. The area continues to be a flashpoint for tensions between the two countries. The Israeli military has not publicly commented on these recent operations.
