Multiple police reports have been filed against Datuk Noorazli Said, chief of the Sepang Umno division, over comments he made during a recent party general assembly that were viewed as offensive to the Catholic Church. The reports reflect growing concern among local political figures and community leaders regarding the remarks.

Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau confirmed he submitted a police report on Tuesday at the Kota Kinabalu district police headquarters. In a statement posted on social media, Tangau noted that he had received a personal apology from Noorazli but emphasized the need for authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. He said he would leave the matter in the hands of law enforcement and relevant officials.

In addition to Tangau’s complaint, Parti Warisan assemblymen Samuel Wong, representing Luyang, and Edna Majimbun of Inanam, together with party officials KC Chen and Melanie Chia, filed reports at the Luyang police station. Warisan strategic communications director Christopher Masudal also lodged a report in Penampang.

The surge of reports signals heightened sensitivity around religious issues in the region and underscores the political implications of remarks made during the party’s assembly. Authorities have yet to comment publicly on the investigations or indicate any potential charges. Noorazli’s precise statements have not been made widely available, and no further comment has been issued by him as of this time.
