Rescue and relief efforts are ongoing in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyawady Region, following severe flooding triggered by the collapse of a section of the Ngawun River embankment on the night of July 30. The breach, caused by heavy rainfall and river erosion, resulted in flooding across five urban wards of Laymyethna, major roads within the town, and 45 nearby villages.

Authorities, including personnel from the South-West Command and Tatmadaw members assigned to a local battalion, have joined forces with the Myanmar Police Force, firefighters, rescue teams, charitable organizations, and local residents to support affected communities. These collaborative efforts focus on evacuation, search and rescue operations, and providing immediate relief.

Response activities include relocating residents' belongings to safer locations, distributing food supplies, and delivering healthcare services to those impacted by the flooding. Teams are also working to reinforce existing water barriers and conduct earth-filling work to repair and stabilize the damaged river embankment.

Officials from the military command have inspected the emergency response measures in the area, coordinating ongoing support to ensure the effectiveness of rescue and relief operations. The combined efforts aim to mitigate further damage and assist displaced populations as the situation develops.
