Thirteen men, including a paramedic and a former football club chief executive, have been charged in connection with the abuse of a woman who was allegedly sedated by her husband over a period of two decades. The case centers on allegations of sexual assault and drugging at a residence in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
The husband, whose identity is withheld to protect the victim, has admitted to multiple offenses including rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault. However, he denies charges related to drugging his wife. The other men, aged between 28 and 73, face a variety of charges including rape, conspiracy to rape, assault by penetration, and conspiracy to administer a substance with intent.
Among those charged, Keith Fotheringham, a 59-year-old university technician from Dundee, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, conspiracy to administer a substance with intent, and assault by penetration. Others have denied the allegations. Ambulance paramedic Jonathan Kirk, 43, of Stockport, denies rape and related conspiracy charges. Pensioner Graham Brougham, 73, also denies similar offenses.
Robert Stewart, 70, a former DJ from Stockport, denies two counts of rape and conspiracy to rape. Mohammed Sabir, 28, from Stockport, has denied three counts of rape along with conspiracy to rape and conspiracy to commit assault by penetration. Accounts clerk and football coach Alan Keelan, 42, from Manchester, denies rape and conspiracy to rape. Jordan Wallace, 31, a dog walker from Stockport, denies charges of rape, attempted rape, and conspiracy to rape.
Philip Wild, a 58-year-old taxi driver from Stockport, faces multiple charges including attempted rape, conspiracy to rape, assault by penetration, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, and sexual assault, all of which he denies. Sean Peers, a 37-year-old unemployed man from Stockport, denies penetration and conspiracy to assault by penetration.
Also charged is Karl Lindsay, 55, former chief executive of Taunton Football Club from Somerset, who denies conspiracy to administer a substance with intent, conspiracy to rape, and conspiracy to assault by penetration. Richard Townsend, 37, of Heywood, denies conspiracy to commit assault by penetration and assault by penetration. Daniel Rayner, 42, from Whitstable, Kent, faces the same charges as Lindsay and has also pleaded not guilty. David Graves, 59, of Ilkeston, Derby, denies conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, and conspiracy to commit sexual assault.
The trial for the group is scheduled to commence in September at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
