The New England Revolution ended the Philadelphia Union’s 15-game unbeaten streak with a 2-1 victory on Saturday in Chester, Pennsylvania, extending their own strong run during a season marked by numerous injuries across their roster.

Dor Turgeman opened the scoring in stoppage time at the end of the first half, netting a goal three minutes into added time. Carles Gil later secured the win with a penalty goal at the 90th minute, awarded after a lengthy video review that followed a foul called against Philadelphia’s Neil Pierre. Despite the seemingly decisive 2-0 scoreline, the Union staged a late comeback in extended stoppage time. Pierre converted a goal at 101:40, reducing the deficit to 2-1. The Union pressed for an equalizer, earning a late corner, but their final attempt drifted wide. The Revolution’s goalkeeper Matt Turner made a critical save in the dying moments, tipping a shot from Agustín Anello over the bar just past the 16th minute of added time.

Despite the physical demands of the match and a stretched lineup hampered by injuries, Revolution center back Ethan Kohler emphasized the team’s resilience, stating, “We’re a team that has no problem with being tested.”

With the victory, the Revolution improved to a 17-10-4 record, earning 55 points and moving into second place in the Eastern Conference. They are currently tied with Miami for the position and hold a comfortable lead over fourth-place Chicago, who has 51 points, and Charlotte, with 47 points. This standing puts the Revolution close to securing a top-four playoff seed and the advantage of hosting a playoff opener. The team is set to host Red Bull New York on Wednesday in their penultimate regular-season game.

The Union, with a record of 13-11-7 and 46 points, were notably without key young midfielder Cavan Sullivan, who sustained an ankle injury during practice on Thursday. The loss has left the Union’s unbeaten run at 15 games in league play over, marking a significant moment in their season as they aim to solidify their playoff position with three matches remaining.
