Richard Hammond is set to close his television production company, Hamster’s Wheel Productions, following the breakdown of his marriage. The firm, which produced children’s science programs and Hammond’s climate-focused series Wild Weather, is entering members’ voluntary liquidation.

According to the company’s most recent financial statements, Hamster’s Wheel held equity totaling just over £4 million, including approximately £2.6 million in cash reserves. This move is expected to result in Hammond receiving a substantial payout from the closure.

The decision to wind down the business comes after Hammond’s separation from his wife Mindy, with whom he had been married for 28 years before their split in January 2024. The production company was closely associated with Hammond’s television work, notably his involvement alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May in the popular motoring series The Grand Tour. The show continues to maintain strong viewership, ranking second globally on Prime Video.
