A prominent lawyer was fatally shot in his office in Rishon Lezion on Tuesday in what authorities are treating as a suspected targeted attack. The incident occurred near the Golden Mall, according to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical service.
The victim, identified as 50-year-old Arbel Feldman, was found unconscious with a gunshot wound when MDA responders arrived at the scene. Despite efforts to provide medical assistance, Feldman was pronounced dead at the location.
Police reported that a 20-year-old resident of Ramla later turned himself in and was taken into custody. The suspect, said to have been a client of the lawyer, was detained pending a remand hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
The Israeli police are investigating the killing as a suspected assassination, focusing on the relationship between the victim and the suspect. The circumstances suggest the shooting was part of a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence. Authorities continue to gather details as the investigation proceeds.
