Construction of a 200-metre road leading to Alexandra Castle in Mymensingh has been underway for four years but remains unfinished, causing ongoing difficulties for local residents, students, and visitors. The road is intended to serve three educational institutions and several offices in the area, but delays have disrupted daily activities, particularly during the monsoon season.

The project initially began in 2020 but faced significant interruptions following an administrative change in August 2024, leading the construction company to halt work temporarily. Although construction resumed in May 2022, progress has been slow since then. Local officials, including headteachers and guardians from the nearby schools, have expressed frustration over the lack of timely responses from city corporation engineers and other authorities.

City Corporation representatives report that they are continuously pressing the contractor to complete the project as soon as possible. Nonetheless, community members remain concerned about the prolonged disruption, emphasizing that the incomplete road hampers mobility and limits access for both students and tourists visiting Alexandra Castle.

Residents have called for urgent action to expedite the construction and restore normal conditions in the area, highlighting the road’s importance for day-to-day commutes and the promotion of local tourism. The delay has underscored challenges in project management and coordination between contractors and municipal officials in Mymensingh.
