Canada has named a 51-athlete track and field team for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2. Among the athletes announced Wednesday by Commonwealth Sport Canada and Athletics Canada are several Olympic and world champions who will compete across a range of events.

Notable members of the team include Camryn Rogers of Richmond, British Columbia, the reigning Olympic and world champion in women’s hammer throw. Rogers aims to defend her Commonwealth Games title, which she won at the 2022 edition in Birmingham, England. Her teammate Ethan Katzberg, also from British Columbia, won silver in men’s hammer throw at the previous Games and has since secured two world titles and Olympic gold.

Damian Warner of London, Ontario, a highly regarded decathlete, returns to the Glasgow venue where he won gold in 2014. Warner also claimed the Olympic decathlon title in Tokyo in 2021. Sprinter Andre De Grasse, from Markham, Ontario, is included on the roster as well. De Grasse is tied with swimmer Penny Oleksiak for the most Olympic medals by a Canadian, tallying seven medals to date, and will compete as part of Canada’s 4x100 metre relay team, which took gold at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Additional key athletes on the roster include Sarah Mitton of Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, the defending women’s shot put champion at the Commonwealth Games and a two-time world indoor champion. Christopher Morales Williams from Vaughan, Ontario, who won the men’s 400-metre indoor world title, and Evan Dunfee of Richmond, British Columbia, the reigning Commonwealth 10-kilometre racewalk champion and world titleholder, are also set to compete.

This diverse group of Canadian athletes will represent the country in athletics at the Commonwealth Games, aiming to build on previous successes while facing a highly competitive international field.
