Tens of thousands of people gathered in Bucharest on Saturday to participate in a charity event that set a new Guinness World Record for the longest table made from recycled materials. The 3.1-mile-long table, named the “Uniting Table,” stretched along Unirii Boulevard in front of the Palace of Parliament, one of Romania’s largest and most iconic buildings.

The event was organized by the Romanian nonprofit Bloom The World Association, which aimed to raise funds for the country’s first pediatric psychiatry hospital. Organizers said the initiative sought to bring attention to the need for improved mental health care services for children in Romania.

Participants sat together along the extensive table as part of the record attempt, which was officially recognized by Guinness World Records, awarding Bloom The World Association a certificate for the achievement. The table’s construction predominantly featured recycled materials, emphasizing the event’s environmental commitment alongside its charitable goals.

The gathering drew a significant crowd, with thousands of people joining to support both the record-breaking effort and the broader campaign to enhance pediatric mental health care infrastructure in Romania. The organizers plan to use the funds raised to advance the establishment of specialized psychiatric facilities aimed at addressing the needs of young patients throughout the country.
