Rory McIlroy's bid to secure a record-equalling eighth Race to Dubai title suffered a setback as Eugenio Chacarra claimed victory at the DP World India Championship. The Spanish golfer’s third win of the season propelled him to the top of the Race to Dubai standings, moving past Patrick Reed, with McIlroy now positioned third.

McIlroy struggled in the final round, shooting a 74 to finish four under par and tied for 42nd place. Reflecting on the results, McIlroy acknowledged the challenge ahead, saying, “Eugenio is playing well. He’s overtaken Patrick. That makes my job a bit harder going into the last two events.”

Chacarra, who completed the tournament at 21 under par, praised McIlroy’s consistent performance in Dubai, noting, “Rory in Dubai always plays well.”

With only two events remaining in the season, the contest for the Race to Dubai title remains open but has become more competitive following Chacarra’s rise to the lead.
