Aaron Rai, winner of the US PGA Championship in May, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Rory McIlroy Award, a new honor recognizing the player who accumulates the most Race to Dubai points across golf’s four major championships. The award considers points earned during the Masters Tournament, US PGA Championship, US Open, and The Open, with Rai emerging as the leading performer among DP World Tour members.

Rai praised McIlroy, a six-time Major champion, as a significant source of inspiration. Speaking after receiving the award, the Englishman highlighted both McIlroy’s achievements on the course and his conduct off it. “Rory is an inspiration to so many people, including myself,” Rai said. “His golf game speaks volumes, but the person he is and the way he conducts himself is equally inspiring.”

McIlroy acknowledged Rai’s strong showing in the final stages of the US PGA Championship at Aroninink Golf Club. “Rai’s performance down the stretch at Aroninink was truly impressive,” McIlroy commented. “He is a talented player and a fantastic person.”

The introduction of the Rory McIlroy Award aims to recognize consistent excellence during golf’s most prestigious events, reflecting the standards set by McIlroy himself. Rai’s receipt of the inaugural award underscores his breakthrough success and rising status within the sport.
