Rosa Inglesa is favored to perform well in the upcoming mile handicap at Nottingham, following a promising run at the same distance last month. Trained by Charlie Fellowes, the daughter of Lope Y Fernandez has shown steady improvement through her juvenile campaign in the latter half of last year. After finishing second on debut at Yarmouth, Rosa Inglesa secured a novice stakes victory at Chelmsford before finishing sixth in the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes at Newmarket.
After a layoff of 204 days, Rosa Inglesa returned in April to contest a seven-furlong handicap at Wetherby, where she placed third in a tight finish behind Secret History. She then successfully extended her run to a full mile at Colwick Park, winning by two and three-quarter lengths over Capichera. Despite a 9-pound weight increase imposed following that victory, her connections believe she retains potential at this distance.
The race is expected to be highly competitive, with multiple contenders capable of challenging for the win. Among them are Seet and Glyfada, both seeking their third consecutive victories, and newcomers to the handicap ranks Darn Hot Gallop and Repel. Bettors are advised to consider Rosa Inglesa for at least each-way backing, given her recent form and progression.
