On July 9, members of the British royal family participated in a series of official engagements across London and the southeast of England.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla visited London Zoo in Regent’s Park to commemorate the institution's bicentenary. They were welcomed by Colonel Jane Davis, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London; Sir James Smith, Chairman of the Zoological Society of London’s Board of Trustees; and Kathryn England, the Society’s Chief Executive Officer. The royal couple toured several exhibits, including the Giants of Galápagos enclosure and Penguin Beach, where they observed a training exercise. They also interacted with zoo staff and local schoolchildren before viewing the Bicentenary Mosaic and visiting the Tiny Giants building. In the afternoon, King Charles, who serves as Patron of the International Rescue Committee-UK, met with the organization’s President and Chief Executive Officer, the Rt Hon David Miliband. Later, Their Majesties attended a celebration honoring the late playwright and screenwriter Sir Tom Stoppard at the National Theatre on London’s South Bank.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales undertook engagements in Hastings, East Sussex. Accompanied by the Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex, Mr. Andrew Blackman, the Prince traveled on the East Hill Funicular Railway and met with local fishermen at Hastings Net Shops. His itinerary also included visits to youth supported by Xtrax at the Hastings Adventure Miniature Golf Complex, the Hastings Commons project housed at the Observer Building, and the Common Room at Eagle House.

The Princess Royal conducted formal handover ceremonies at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, her patronage, receiving appointments of new leadership including Mr. Gary Waltham as CEO and the Hon Andrew Younger as President of the Highland Society of London. Her engagements also took her to Hook Norton Brewery and Hospice in the Weald, located on Maidstone Road.

The Duke of Gloucester opened several projects in Royal Tunbridge Wells, including a visit to the Amelia Scott cultural centre and the official reopening of the TS Brilliant Sea Cadets Headquarters following renovations. He also toured Hospice in the Weald and unveiled conservation work at St Mary the Virgin Church in Goudhurst.

In addition to these engagements, official announcements included appointments within the clergy and notices of recent passings, reflecting ongoing royal duties covering a diverse range of sectors across the United Kingdom.
