The Royal Oman Police (ROP) will participate in activities commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking on June 26, highlighting global efforts to confront challenges posed by narcotics. This annual observance emphasizes the need to enhance measures addressing drug-related threats to public security and individual well-being.

In 2026, the focus is on the evolving nature of drug trafficking and abuse, particularly the rise of new substances and the role of modern technology, including social media, in facilitating the spread and promotion of narcotics. Authorities aim to raise public awareness and strengthen international cooperation to mitigate the impact of drug-related issues.

As part of its contribution, the ROP will host a sports event at Al Mouj Walk in the Wilayat of Al Seeb on June 27, from 5 to 9 p.m., inviting diverse community members to participate. This event is designed to engage the public in supporting anti-drug initiatives.

Additionally, on June 28, the Directorate-General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances will hold an exhibition at Muscat Mall, also in Al Seeb. The exhibition will showcase the Directorate-General's security operations and efforts in addressing drug and psychotropic substance abuse, illustrating the comprehensive role played by law enforcement in this sector.

These activities reflect Oman’s commitment to addressing the dynamic challenges of drug abuse and trafficking through public engagement and enhanced interagency collaboration.
