The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has unveiled an updated Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy aimed at strengthening its position as a global leader in AI-powered mobility. The announcement was made by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA.

The revised strategy is designed to create a fully integrated and interconnected ecosystem that leverages advanced technologies to improve transport and mobility services, optimise traffic management, enhance customer experiences, and increase operational and corporate efficiency. These initiatives are expected to contribute to raising the overall quality of life in Dubai while reinforcing the city's status as a frontrunner in adopting cutting-edge technologies for public benefit.

Spanning 41 sectors within the RTA’s agencies, departments, and business units, the strategy’s initial phases focus on 11 key business areas. In these areas, the RTA plans the development of 40 AI-driven products, with 11 already completed, alongside the implementation of four foundational projects.

Mattar Al Tayer described the strategy as a significant milestone in the RTA’s ongoing digital transformation. He highlighted a shift from AI applications that primarily support operational tasks to intelligent systems capable of analysing data, generating predictive insights, aiding in decision-making, and delivering comprehensive end-to-end services. The strategy emphasises the expansion of future technologies in the planning, operation, and management of road networks and public transport systems.

The RTA intends to develop proactive and personalised services to better address customer needs, with the goals of reducing time and effort while simplifying mobility across Dubai. This approach aligns with broader efforts to deploy smart technologies in urban infrastructure to foster a more sustainable and efficient transport environment.
