During her testimony, the woman stated that the coverage of Brand’s alleged behavior prompted her to contact police, saying that seeing the allegations in the press caused her to relive her experience.

Under cross-examination, Brand’s defense lawyer, Ian Winter KC, questioned the woman’s account, suggesting she had willingly accompanied Brand to the restroom and had been enthusiastic about meeting him. The woman rejected this characterization, stating that she was not charmed and had only known Brand for a brief moment before the alleged assault occurred.
