Russell T Davies, the acclaimed creator behind Channel 4 dramas such as *Queer As Folk*, *It’s A Sin*, and *Tiptoe*, has announced he is currently developing a new television project. Speaking on the Sunday Brunch Picky Bits podcast, Davies indicated that he has just begun writing the script for the upcoming series, which is expected to air on Channel 4.
Davies described the writing process as a personal and unpressured endeavor, emphasizing that the project originates from his own creative interests rather than external demands. “I’ve just started a new script, it’s probably for Channel 4. It’s not a pressure because it’s what I want to do, it comes from me,” he said.
Despite his established reputation, Davies noted that each new work begins with a sense of starting fresh. He commented on the challenges of crafting powerful drama, saying, “No one comes to me and says, ‘Can you write a powerful drama, please?’ Every time, I go from scratch, every time it’s like I’m knocking on the door for the first time.” However, he acknowledged the position his experience has afforded him: “I know I’m lucky in that the doors are open to me but I have worked hard.”
Davies previously gained widespread recognition for revitalizing the *Doctor Who* series and has been lauded for his work portraying LGBTQ+ themes with nuance and depth. The new project marks his continued collaboration with Channel 4, although specific details about the story, cast, or production timeline remain undisclosed.
