Russian attacks in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in four fatalities and left 22 others injured, including an 11-year-old girl, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on Sunday. The strikes occurred southeast of Kiev amid ongoing hostilities that have persisted since Russia launched a full-scale invasion in February 2022.
In a separate incident, a drone strike hit a high-rise residential building in Vinnytsia, located southwest of the capital, injuring six people. Zelensky noted damage across nine different regions of Ukraine, highlighting the continued intensity of Russian military operations.
Among the targets hit overnight were critical infrastructure sites such as thermal power plants, electrical substations, coal mines, grain storage facilities, and shopping centers. In the city of Kharkiv, Russian forces struck a home improvement hypermarket before carrying out a subsequent attack on emergency responders who arrived at the scene, injuring first responders, according to Zelensky.
Over the past week, Ukraine has faced a barrage of Russian attacks involving approximately 1,600 guided aerial bombs, 48 various missiles, and nearly 2,300 drones, the president added. These recent offensives come ahead of potential new negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow, which are expected to be mediated by the United States.
Russia has also reported casualties and damage resulting from Ukrainian strikes as the conflict continues to impose severe humanitarian and infrastructural tolls on both sides.
