At least five people have been killed across Ukraine in several Russian drone attacks, officials reported Monday. A drone strike targeted the home of a large family in the village of Znob-Novhorodske, located in the northeastern Sumy region near the Russian border, killing a 13-year-old boy, his father, and grandmother. The boy’s mother and two siblings, aged 10 and 13, sustained injuries in the attack, according to the regional prosecutor’s office.

In Zaporizhzhya, situated in southeastern Ukraine, a Russian drone strike hit a house in a residential area, killing a woman and injuring three others, the region’s military governor, Ivan Fedorov, said. The impact of the drone caused a fire at the residence.

In addition to strikes on land, Ukrainian authorities reported overnight attacks on several civilian cargo ships in the Black Sea by drones launched by Russian forces. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba stated that a fire broke out on a vessel flying the Panamanian flag, resulting in the death of an Egyptian cook. Eight crew members were evacuated, and the ship was rendered unseaworthy, Kuleba said.

These incidents come amid continued hostilities as Ukraine defends itself from a full-scale Russian invasion that has been ongoing for more than four years.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones conducted an attack on Russia’s Satellite Communications Centre (SCC) approximately 120 kilometers north of Moscow, Russian officials confirmed. The Russian operator of communication satellites said there was no disruption to television broadcasting or news services, and no injuries were reported among personnel. The effects of the attack were still being managed. Ukrainian sources did not offer details on the impact of the strike.

The SCC, originally established for broadcasting during the 1980 Moscow Olympics, later facilitated direct communication links between the Kremlin and the White House. It remains unclear if the facility serves any military functions.
