Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB), a leading financial institution in Saudi Arabia, has integrated Swift’s new retail payments system to enhance the transparency and efficiency of cross-border transactions for its customers. The implementation aims to offer greater visibility and a more consistent experience in international money transfers, addressing longstanding challenges related to differing processing practices and regulatory requirements across global markets.
The collaboration between SAB and Swift provides customers with improved tracking capabilities and faster payment processing, including the possibility of instant transfers where supported by local payment infrastructures. The standardized protocols implemented through Swift’s network are designed to simplify the handling of international payments and increase operational efficiency.
Bandar Al-Gheshayan, chief wealth and personal banking officer at SAB, emphasized that evolving customer expectations for transparency, speed, and payment traceability have driven the partnership. He stated that the bank is committed to advancing banking solutions that meet these demands and contribute to a seamless user experience. Al-Gheshayan also highlighted that the initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader economic transformation goals under Saudi Vision 2030 by fostering an innovative and advanced financial ecosystem.
With this enhancement, SAB positions itself to better serve customer needs in an increasingly interconnected global economy, while supporting progress in the Kingdom’s financial sector modernization efforts.
