The Buffalo Sabres have completed a sign-and-trade agreement sending forward Alex Tuch to the Washington Capitals. As part of the deal, Buffalo received a third-round draft pick and forward David Kampf from Washington. Prior to the trade, the Sabres signed Tuch to an eight-year contract worth $84 million.
Tuch, 30, recorded 33 goals and 33 assists last season and was instrumental in leading Buffalo to its first playoff appearance since 2011. The Capitals have been active in reshaping their roster, having recently acquired winger Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues.
In a separate transaction, the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche exchanged prospects and draft picks. These moves follow the departure of Chris MacFarland from Colorado to take over hockey operations in Nashville, signaling a period of adjustment for both organizations as they look to build for the future.
