Sallaal extended his unbeaten run with a victory in the Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock, suggesting he is prepared to compete at the highest level. The four-year-old, trained by Roger Varian, secured a one-and-a-half-length win over Nahraan in the Group 3 contest, marking his third consecutive triumph.

Following this performance, Sallaal remains entered in several major upcoming races, including the Irish Champion Stakes, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and the Champion Stakes at Ascot. His odds for the Champion Stakes were notably shortened to 10-1 from 20-1, reflecting growing confidence in his potential.

Winning jockey Ray Dawson commented on the race dynamics, describing the final three-and-a-half furlongs as a sprint, which did not fully play to Sallaal’s strengths as a stayer. Despite this, Dawson expressed satisfaction with the horse’s progression and praised Varian’s training, noting that there are numerous options available for the horse’s campaign going forward.
