Salisbury extended their unbeaten streak to eleven matches across all competitions but were held to a 1-1 draw by Dover at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium on Saturday. The match ended in a dramatic late equalizer for Dover after a tightly contested encounter under challenging weather conditions.

The home side, aiming to build on a six-game unbeaten run at home, began the match in wet conditions that intensified just before kickoff. Salisbury controlled much of the possession and created several opportunities early on, including a promising chance for winger Robbie Gallagher in the third minute, which was blocked by the Dover defense. Despite dominating the ball, the hosts struggled to convert chances against a Dover team sitting just below the playoff positions.

Dover remained a threat through counter-attacks, testing Salisbury’s defense occasionally. The first half’s best opportunity came late when Dover midfielder Caine Bradbury shot over the bar from inside Salisbury’s penalty area.

Salisbury manager Brian Dutton acknowledged that his team’s performance was below the standard they had set earlier in the season, describing the display as “lacklustre” while cautioning against harsh criticism due to the team’s recent strong form.

At halftime, Dutton made a tactical change by bringing on top goalscorer Nathan Odokonyero for Gallagher. The substitution quickly paid dividends. Within two minutes of entering the field, Odokonyero converted a penalty earned by Mo Dabre, who won the spot-kick early in the second half during his second league start of the season.

Despite taking the lead, Salisbury faced sustained pressure from Dover, who pushed forward in search of an equalizer. The visitors’ efforts were rewarded in added time when substitute Sak Hassan made a run down the left wing and delivered a cut-back to Euan Williams, who finished to level the score in the dying moments of the match.

The draw leaves Salisbury unbeaten after 12 league games and firmly positioned in the playoff places. Dover, meanwhile, continue to hover just outside the playoff spots as the league progresses.
