British singer-songwriter Sam Fender is set to headline the Pyramid Stage at the 2027 Glastonbury Festival, according to industry sources. The announcement comes as thousands of fans who purchased tickets last weekend await the official lineup, which is expected to be confirmed in the spring.
The festival, scheduled to take place in June at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England, will welcome approximately 210,000 attendees. Tickets sold out in just 42 minutes despite no confirmed performers being publicly announced at the time of sale.
Fender, 32, has experienced a notably successful year, highlighted by his collaboration with Olivia Dean on the single "Rein Me In." The track broke UK music history by remaining at number one for 23 weeks, the longest run ever recorded. The Geordie artist has also received recognition as a five-time Brit Award winner.
An industry source noted Fender’s excitement about securing a headline spot, describing it as a significant career milestone. The musician is said to have shared his news enthusiastically with his neighbors. Fender has close connections to previous Glastonbury performers, including Olivia Dean and Lewis Capaldi—both of whom appeared at the festival in 2025. Another source indicated Capaldi has been an advocate for Fender’s headline slot, promoting him during his tours to raise his profile.
Fender previously performed on the Pyramid Stage in 2022, having withdrawn from a scheduled appearance in 2019 due to illness. This year’s festival marked a traditional fallow period to allow the land at Worthy Farm to recover, continuing a cycle observed regularly by the event organizers.
As anticipation builds ahead of the official lineup announcement, Fender’s confirmed involvement signals a notable highlight for next year’s festival program.
