Sam Noakes paid tribute to late country music icon Dolly Parton with a decisive victory in the ring on Saturday night. The 29-year-old lightweight from Kent entered the bout against Ukrainian boxer Denys Berinchyk to the tune of Parton’s well-known anthem "9 to 5," marking a respectful nod to the singer who recently passed away at age 80.

Noakes, who continues to supplement his boxing career with work as a roofer, delivered a strong performance over the full ten rounds. The fight served as a step in his rebuilding process following his world title challenge loss to Abdullah Mason last November.

From the opening bell, Noakes set a lively pace. He maintained a disciplined defense throughout the early rounds as Berinchyk began to increase his offensive output in the second round. Notably, Berinchyk was sent to the canvas three times in the fourth round, not from punches but as a result of pressure exerted by Noakes. The Kent fighter further asserted control in the eighth round, staggering his opponent with sustained pressure.

The judges awarded Noakes a unanimous decision victory, with scorecards reading 100-90, 99-91, and 98-92, marking his 19th professional win. The victory may provide momentum as Noakes looks to advance his career after the setback in his previous title bid.
