Sam Smith has dedicated their forthcoming album, titled *Hazel Eyes*, to their boyfriend, fashion designer Christian Cowan, but recently discovered an error in the album’s title. The singer, known for hits like "Stay With Me," explained the mix-up during an interview on BBC Radio 2.

Set to release on August 21, the album was intended as a romantic tribute to Cowan, inspired by what Smith believed to be the color of his eyes. However, Smith learned that the title does not accurately reflect Cowan’s eye color. “The worst part is, I wrote this whole album, *Hazel Eyes*, this beautiful, romantic, devoted record to him – and then the other day he said to me, ‘You know, I don’t have hazel eyes,’” Smith said. They added their previous understanding was that hazel referred to a color resembling hazelnuts, but in reality, it is more of a greenish-yellow shade.

Despite the misnaming, Smith appears committed to the album and its dedication, highlighting the personal and emotional connection behind the project. The announcement has drawn attention not only to the upcoming release but also to the intimate nature of Smith’s songwriting inspiration.
