San Antonio Spurs forward Tobias Harris is sidelined with a strained left calf injury sustained during training camp, putting his participation in the preseason and the start of the NBA regular season in doubt. Harris, who joined the Spurs as a free agent on July 6, did not take part in the team’s annual intrasquad Silver & Black scrimmage as he continues to recover.
The Spurs plan to monitor Harris’s condition throughout their five-game preseason schedule before determining his readiness for regular-season play. Harris signed a two-year contract with San Antonio after spending the previous two seasons with the Detroit Pistons. Last season, he averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over 27.7 minutes per game.
