Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has commended the attitude and integration of new signing Andrey Santos since the Brazilian midfielder joined the club earlier this month. United secured Santos from Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth an initial £48 million, with an additional £2 million in potential add-ons, marking their first acquisition of the summer transfer window.
Santos has made an immediate impact, featuring in the opening pre-season matches against Wrexham and Rosenborg. Maguire highlighted the youngster’s positive demeanor, noting that Santos is consistently cheerful and has quickly adapted to his new environment.
“He’s a really nice person, always smiling,” Maguire said. “We’ve just got to make him feel comfortable but he’s settled in well. He’s been brilliant in training. I thought he was brilliant in the game as well.”
The experienced centre-back added that Santos, despite his youth, is already displaying qualities that suggest he will be an important figure in Manchester United’s plans moving forward. “He’s always laughing and joking around. He’s still really young, and he’s going to have a big part to play in this club’s future,” Maguire said.
Santos’ transfer represents a significant investment for Manchester United as they look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the upcoming season. The club’s management and coaching staff have expressed optimism about his potential contributions following his early performances.
