The Saudi Council of Ministers on Tuesday endorsed the outcomes of the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, which includes Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan. The session, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, took place in Jeddah.

The committee’s first meeting was held on Monday in Istanbul, Türkiye, where representatives from the three countries convened to discuss mechanisms for collective deterrence and defense. The council in Jeddah highlighted the agreement reached to advance institutional arrangements, including the establishment of a General Secretariat to be headquartered in Saudi Arabia. This body will serve as a central coordinating entity to support ongoing cooperation between the member states.

Officials emphasized that these steps are designed to improve coordination and integration among the signatories, thereby strengthening the group’s capacity for effective deterrence and joint defense. The strategic framework also aims to contribute to broader international security objectives and regional stability.

The council further noted that the cooperative measures are intended to support efforts toward achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region, aligning with the broader geopolitical goals of the participating countries.
