Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have agreed to a mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and special passports, a development announced during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The agreement was finalized following discussions between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The bilateral arrangement will allow officials holding these passport types to enter either country without the need for short-term visas. This move is intended to streamline visa procedures, enhance coordination, and foster closer cooperation between the two nations.

In addition to formalizing the visa waiver, the two officials reviewed the status of Saudi-Pakistani relations and exchanged views on regional developments. They also emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and promote peaceful solutions in the region.

The agreement comes at a time of increasingly close cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The two countries established a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement in September 2025, marking a significant enhancement of their defence partnership. More recently, in August 2026, they expanded their security collaboration by joining Turkey in the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, a broader regional defense framework.

These steps underline the deepening diplomatic, economic, and security ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan amid a complex geopolitical environment.
