A Saudi father is mourning the loss of his daughter following the October 10 attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, while hoping for the recovery of his younger daughter who remains hospitalized. Saud Manahi Al-Sarrah spoke of his grief over the death of his daughter Aroub, who died from injuries sustained in the assault. Her younger sister, Tala, was also injured and is receiving medical treatment in Riyadh.

The family had been preparing to travel from Riyadh to Jouf, with Aroub, Tala, and their mother planning to attend a wedding celebration for a family member. Reports indicate that the family, originally from Dumat Al-Jandal in Jouf, had been looking forward to festivities before the attack occurred.

Al-Sarrah expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support from across Saudi Arabia. He praised the solidarity demonstrated by fellow citizens, describing the collective compassion as a reflection of national cohesion and brotherhood. “Your stances have embodied the highest meanings of brotherhood, solidarity and national cohesion,” he said, highlighting how the grief of one family is shared by all.

Expressions of sympathy extended beyond messages, with some individuals injured in the same attack reportedly traveling to Al-Jouf to offer condolences in person. The family’s suffering was further underscored by the timing of the tragedy amid the anticipated family event.

On an official level, Riyadh Deputy Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz visited hospitals to meet with injured victims. During these visits, he conveyed greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, affirming the government’s commitment to providing medical care for those affected.

Al-Sarrah also offered prayers for those who have supported his family and for others impacted by the attack. He described Aroub as a martyr and called for protection for the homeland and its people. Meanwhile, he remains focused on Tala’s recovery, hoping for her swift return to health.

As the family continues to navigate this difficult period, Al-Sarrah reaffirmed his appreciation for the condolences and prayers received, which he says have brought comfort amid profound loss.
