The Saudi Cabinet expressed strong support for ongoing mediation efforts by Qatar and Pakistan aimed at reducing regional tensions and promoting peace. In a meeting held on Tuesday and chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, the Cabinet emphasized the important role of the Makkah Agreement member states in upholding security and stability across the region.

Officials reviewed recent discussions between the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement countries and senior Iranian representatives, reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to establishing both regional and international security. The Cabinet stressed the need for continued dialogue to address sources of conflict and foster cooperation.

In addition, the Cabinet highlighted the effectiveness of Saudi Arabia’s air defense systems in countering repeated missile and drone attacks launched by the Houthi armed group targeting key cities and facilities, including the holy sites of Makkah and Medina. Riyadh condemned these attacks as serious violations of Saudi sovereignty and an affront to the sanctity of Islamic holy places, as well as an affront to the broader Muslim community.

The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom’s sovereign right to defend the security of the Two Holy Mosques, pilgrims, visitors, residents, and citizens against such hostilities. The statement underscored Saudi Arabia’s resolve to maintain protection of its territory and key religious sites amid ongoing regional challenges.
