Saudi Arabia has committed to hosting The Championship, a new women’s golf tournament to be co-sanctioned by the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour (LET). The multi-year agreement includes a prize fund of £3 million, making it one of the most lucrative events in women's golf. The tournament is scheduled to take place annually in July in London.

LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler expressed enthusiasm about the addition, stating that the event will bolster the LPGA Tour schedule alongside the LET. Golf Saudi, the organization responsible for promoting golf in the kingdom, also announced a multi-year partnership with the LET Order of Merit. LET Chief Executive Tom Phillips highlighted that the collaboration would support long-term growth and sustainability for the tour.

The move follows Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund withdrawing its financial support for LIV Golf, a men’s professional golf league. This latest commitment underscores the kingdom’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as a significant backer in the global golf landscape, particularly in the women’s game.
