Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy met with Zhai Jun, the Chinese Government’s Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, in Muscat on Sunday to discuss the ongoing cooperation and shared interests between the two countries. The meeting focused on strengthening the bilateral ties established between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China, emphasizing continued collaboration on existing partnerships and joint initiatives.

The discussions also covered current regional and international developments, addressing associated challenges and their wider implications. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting dialogue and diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering peace and stability, stressing the importance of tackling the root causes of tensions and conflicts in the region.

Further points highlighted included the adherence to international law and the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter. Both parties underscored the need to advance political solutions to crises through peaceful and constructive dialogue. Additionally, they emphasized safeguarding freedom of navigation and security in the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime passage.

Present at the meeting were Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, Lyu Jian, China’s Ambassador to Oman, and senior officials from both countries. The engagement signals an ongoing commitment to maintaining and expanding Oman-China relations amid complex regional dynamics.
