World number one Scottie Scheffler secured his second PGA Tour Championship victory on Sunday, coming from behind to overcome Norway’s Viktor Hovland at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Scheffler closed with a four-under-par 66 to finish at 16-under, three strokes ahead of Hovland, who ended the tournament on 13-under following a final round of two-over-par 72.

Scheffler, a four-time major champion who also won the season-ending Tour Championship in 2024, began the day three strokes behind Hovland but steadily chipped away at the lead. His charge included a striking birdie on the par-three second hole, where his tee shot stopped just an inch from the cup, setting the tone for his round. Additional birdies on the fourth, eighth, tenth, and thirteenth holes helped him reach four-under on the day before a bogey on 15 briefly interrupted his momentum.

The decisive moment came at the 16th hole, where Scheffler’s bunker shot left him an 11-foot birdie putt, which he sank to establish a two-shot lead. Hovland missed critical birdie opportunities on both the 15th and 16th holes, including a putt that lipped out, allowing Scheffler to pull clear. A third bogey on the 16th further diminished Hovland’s chances, cementing Scheffler's lead.

With the victory, Scheffler claimed the $10 million winner's prize and moved past Tiger Woods to become the highest career earner on the PGA Tour, with over $130 million in earnings. This win marks Scheffler’s 22nd PGA Tour title and his second FedEx Cup, joining an exclusive group of multiple FedEx Cup winners alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy, who has won the FedEx Cup three times previously, finished tied for seventh place at 11-under, five strokes behind Scheffler. England’s Tommy Fleetwood, the 2025 Tour Championship winner, posted a round consistent enough to finish one shot behind McIlroy at 10-under, tied for 11th with Australia’s Adam Scott and American Cameron Young. Ryan Gerard secured third place with a total of 12-under.

Scheffler reflected on his win by emphasizing his perseverance and ability to come from behind, describing the feeling of clinching the tournament after battling through the rounds as particularly rewarding.
